*Athenian law didn't allow a girl to choose her husband. Kings were the ones who choose husbands for their daughters or else they have to choose between death or turning to be a nun. This was clearly shown in mid summer nights dream when Hermia and Lysander were in love but Hermia'a father wanted her to marry Demetrius. And ehen she disagreed, she was told that the Athenian law will be applied on her , so they decided to elope.
*Oberon and Titania were not on good terms , yhey were arguing on the indian boy , as Titania wanted to grow him up as her son and Oberon wanted to grow him up as one of his courtiers.
*in mid summer nights dream,nature was affected by fairies. For instance, the fairies had a great role as they had power to change situations from good to bad or even from bad to good in human beings lives or between them "fairies", which was clear as when Oberon, the king of the fairies, and Titania were arguing because of an indian boy, whom Oberon wanted to take from Titania but Titania disagreed, so Obero planned against Titania and ordered Puck to put the juice of the purple flower in her eyes when she sleeps which would lead to a magical love between Titania and the first person or fairy or animal or whatever she sees.
Moreover, nature was affected by the fairies on human beings as for example, when Oberon saw Demetrius and Helena in the woods as Helena was in love with Demetrius, but Demetrius didn't love her, although she thought that if she told him about Hermia and Lysander's plan to elope together through the woods would make Demetrius love her as Demetrius loved Hermia, not Helena. When Oberon saw Demetrius telling Helena that he hates her and kept on telling her to stop following him, Oberon ordered Puck to put some of the purple flower juice in the eyes of a man wearing Athenian Clothes, but actually he found Lysander and he thought he was the man Oberon was talking about and when Lysander woke up, he saw Helena immediately instead of Hermia so he felt in love with her and stopped loving Hermi. When Oberon knew that mistake, Puck's mistake, he ordered Puck to correct it by putting the juice in Demetrius's eyes.

Reading Revision - A Good Student answer key
A Good Student
I was extremely glad I had been to the freshman orientation. The high school was
tremendously large, so the orientation helped me immensely. I figured out where my
classrooms were located, and I was also able to meet some of the teachers. I even had a
new friend. I met another student who was really interested in sports, like me, and we were
both going to try out for the basketball team. I really hope we make the team.
Today was my first day, and it was very difficult. We only have four minutes to get
from one class to another. Even though I knew where the classrooms were, I still had to
manage to get from one end of the building to the other in that short amount of time. I
wanted to go to my locker and drop off my book, so I did just that. However, that took
some time, and I worried about being late. Unfortunately, I did end up arriving late to my
math class. My math teacher told me, “Just be on time tomorrow, because I know you are
finding your way, but that’s it. I am serious—only one late-to-class is allowed. After that,
you must go to the office to request a pass, and I will mark you tardy. Once you are tardy
three times you must serve a detention.”
I really enjoyed my art class that first day. The teacher showed us how to create
portraits. We just made drawings today, but I know it’s going to be a wonderful class.
While I very much enjoy drawing, I had no idea it was so closely related to math. I divided
my page into equal sections, using a ruler, and then worked on my sketch.
I like my English class, too. Today we wrote about ourselves. The teacher said to
just write what you think in the form of a paragraph or a poem, and that we will focus on
grammar later. I composed a poem about myself, and I believe it is a good poem.
Lunch was particularly hurried. I went to my locker first before rushing to the
cafeteria. I scanned the cafeteria for my friend, but he wasn’t there, so I sat with people I hadn’t met. Everyone was eating very quickly. There were several lunch choices, but
tomorrow I will choose differently. The food I got today looked tasty, but I didn’t like it
very much.
There is an after-school club I can join. It is a club for people who want to learn
more about computers, and I think I’ll sign up. But there is another club after-school that
interests me, too: the chess club. I enjoy playing chess. I also need to learn how to use a
computer. My social studies teacher claims it is the one skill you need to learn every
subject. My English teacher said the one skill I need in every class is writing. I think I need both skills. So many possibilities—it’s going to be a good year.

Answer Key
Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.
Columbus & the Egg
This is a story about Columbus. He was an explorer. He is the explorer who came to the Americas from Spain in 1492. This is a story about what might have happened long ago when he was back in Spain. When Columbus came back from his trip to the Americas, many people praised him. He was made an admiral. That means he was a leader. People said what a great thing he had done. But not everyone liked him. Some were jealous of all the attention he got. One day Columbus was at a party that a Spanish gentleman gave in his honor. People were saying, “What a great discovery you have made.” Several persons were present who were jealous of the great admiral's success. They were proud, conceited fellows, and they very soon began to try to make Columbus uncomfortable. ``You have discovered strange lands beyond the seas,'' they said, ``but what of that? We do not see why there should be so much said about it. Anybody can sail across the ocean; and anybody can coast along the islands on the other side, just as you have done. It is the simplest thing in the world.'' Columbus made no answer; but after a while he took an egg from a dish and said to the company: ``Who among you, gentlemen, can make this egg stand on end?'' One by one those at the table tried the experiment. When the egg had gone entirely around and none had succeeded, all said that it could not be done. Then Columbus took the egg and struck its small end gently upon the table so as to break the shell a little. After that there was no trouble in making it stand upright. ``Gentlemen,'' said he, ``what is easier than to do this which you said was impossible? It is the simplest thing in the world. Anybody can do it--AFTER HE HAS BEEN SHOWN HOW!''

Objective sight words :(labor leader, non-violent methods, migrant, philosophies, immigrants, voting registration, pesticides, chemicals, strikes, protest, boycott);
concepts (migrant workers and importance of working rights, non-violent means to achieve worker rights, St. Francis and Gandhi influence, Great Depression)
By: Sue Peterson Cesar Estrada Chavez (1927-1993) was a Mexican American labor leader who used non-violent methods to fight for the rights of migrant farm workers in the southwestern United States. Migrant workers often move from farm to farm or from town to town to find work. It is usually difficult work and does not pay a high wage. Chavez was influenced greatly by the peaceful philosophies of St. Francis of Assisi and Mohandas Gandhi.
When he was ten-years old, his parents lost the family farm because of the Great Depression. They were forced to become migrant workers themselves. Chavez worked part-time in the farm fields with his family in Arizona and later in California, when his family lived there. After graduating from 8th grade, Chavez worked full-time to help support his family. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, married Helen Fabela in 1948, and eventually helped raise a family of eight children. Chavez and his wife helped teach Mexican immigrants to read and helped them with voting registration. Chavez was concerned over the health and working conditions of the migrant population. He did not like the use of pesticides, the name of the chemicals used to kill bugs on the crops. He knew that pesticides could make human beings sick. He organized a group of people to help work for the rights of farm workers. They worked on many goals like increasing the wages for the workers, improving their working conditions, and improving the safety for the farm workers. Chavez helped organize strikes, whereby the workers chose to stop working to protest some important issues related to work. For example, the migrant workers went on strike to protest the poor wages, poor working conditions, and lack of safety on their jobs. They refused to work until something changed regarding their salary and these working conditions. The public, that is consumers like you, sometimes chooses to support the strike by not buying certain products or not buying from a certain store, etc. This is called a boycott. Boycotts put pressure on the people who make decisions regarding those who are protesting and striking. Chavez went on many hunger strikes, too, which is another type of strike to prove a point and draw attention to what his concerns were. In a hunger strike, you basically do not eat until the demands are met. Chavez was able to use the hunger strikes to move legislators to change the laws to improve the lives of farm workers. Because of Chavez’s actions, he was jailed many times. Despite this, he continued his goal of helping to fight for the migrant worker. Chavez, with aid from Dolores Huerta and Gilbert Padilla, started a union called the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) to help fight for social justice. He organized a national boycott of lettuce and grapes. The name NFWA was changed to the United Farm Workers (UFW) in 1974. In 1978, some of the demands for better wages and working conditions were met, so the boycott for the lettuce and grapes was lifted. Throughout his life, Chavez’s motto was “Si, se puede”. This meant, “Yes, it can be done”. Chavez proved that it could be done. His work for fair treatment and better pay for migrant workers helped make the lives of millions of people better. After a lifetime of working to help these people, Chavez died in 1993. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom after his death. Chavez’s children and grandchildren continue in his footsteps to help fight for the rights for migrant workers.

Hamlet - acts 4&5 task sheet - answers
comment on the following quotation
1)Hamlet said this quotation while he was at the graveyard and the workman gave him Yorick's skull(that was there fo 23 years),Yorick was the King's joker.The workman was talking about the philosophy of death,which is that if someone lives greatly and is a pure,kind-hearted person that's not double-faced,will end in a great way,as well,and vice versa with opposite people,they will end in a bad way when they die,they won't even lie long on earth.Hamlet at that moment,meant talking about Gertrude,he meant that however she paints her face and changes herself and tries to cover her flaws(she didn't cover them,though)(she was double-faced),she will end badly because of her wicked actions
2)Laertes said these words to Claudius in Claudius' room,when a messenger came in with a letter from Hamlet saying that he would return to Denmark and then explain to him why he returned.(Claudius sent Hamlet away to England)Anyways,when Claudius read the letter,Laertes was standing and felt somehow excited and interested as he wanted Hamlet to come back in order that he would take his revenge from Hamlet for killing Polonius.*his father*which filled his life with sadness and Ophelia turned to being mad due to the pain inside her.As a result,Claudius told Laertes that they could punish Hamlet in a method that would look like an accident,and Laertes told him that he wanted to be the one who punishes Hamlet by himself,which shows the sadness and melancholy inside Laertes and how Hamlet and Laertes are the same in the grief inside them and in seeking revenge(Hamlet for his father's muder)

3)This quotation was said by Laertes in a large romm in the castle when Ophelua turned into being mad due to the sadness inside her because of losing her father(Hamlet killing Polonius).However,Ophelia entered in the castle while Laertes and Claudius were discussing the murder of Polonius,she entered talking to herself with her untidy hair and dirty clothes and she startes saying useless,meaningless words that show her depression and pain.So,Laertes said that her words that don't make any sense,shine in that terrible world that's full of lies,murderers and awful traits.
5)Hamlet said these words to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern when they met each others on the castle stairs and Rosencrantz asked Hamlet about what he had done with the hody of Polonius,as Hamlet killed Polonius by mistake while he was talking with his mother(Gertrude).Anyways,Hamlet said this quotation as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern always followed Gertrude and Claudius' orders to know everything about Hamlet.So,Gertrude and Claudius used Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to discover Hamlet's deepest secrets,which throws light on how they were unloyal friends and how Gertrude didn't know Hamlet well,as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern weren't the right people to use,they weren't the people Hamlet would feel comfortable in their company to tell them his secrets and plans.
4)Gertrude said these words to Claudius in Claudius' room when Gertrude was talking to him about the incident of the death of Polonius and how he was killed.Polonius was murdered by Hamlet as when Hamlet and Gertrude were having a very serious talk,Polonius was listening to that conversation from behind the curtains.Afterwards,Gertrude thought that Hamlet was going to kill her so Polonius shouted out from behind the curtains:"Murder!",which lead to Hamlet killing him by mistake thinking he was Claudius.At the time Gertrude was telling Claudius that,Hamlet was trying to hide the body of Polonius away,Also,even though Hamlet killed Polonius by mistake,Hamlet didn't fell guilty and thought that his death was his very own mistake because of listening to other people's conversation.But,on the other hand,Gertrude thought that killing Polonius was out of Hamlet's madness and mind-illness and thought that Hamlet was sorry for killing Polonius.But actually,in reality,she doesn't know her son quite well,if she knew her son well,she would've instantly known that Hamlet was never mad,but he was just pretending madness.

Make my wish come true
Searching for answers
That evaded me for so long
I got lost in a maze of treachery
Hidden under a mask of innocence,
It’s been so long
words kept me awake
all night long, making
me restless and confused;
drowning in the wishes
of a long lost past,
I let my life down,
I let myself down;
In the midst of the night
Under the velvet skies
I surrendered to life
I whisper for forgivness;
So with a smile on my lips
And a wish on my heart
I give faith (hope) one more reason
I give life another chance
To make my wish come true;

Peace
By: Shireen Raza
Why we feel so unsafe today,
Coz of terrors and horrors lying our way,
And all our happiness gone away,
At present. What we all need is
Peace, peace and peace…
Along with the progress of science
Is the killing of our conscience,
We run for money, we run for fame,
Killing and murdering has become a game,
At present, what we need is
Peace, peace and peace…
